Hi all - We have totally unexplained damp in a few of our walls and are keen to get it investigated in case it is serious (and just to put our minds at rest)
Does anyone have any recommendations for good people used previously? Ideally for investigation and treatment (if needed).
Thanks,

I have used http://abbottdampproofing.co.uk/. Excellent service and very knowledgeable.
I'd agree with this advice Michael - I think a lot of damp in walls comes from above, not below. I lived in a ground floor flat that suffered badly with dam from poor maintenance of the roof - we had fungus growing! Also I once had damp coming through the wall from a neighbour's badly caulked shower.
I'm wary of damp contractors because when we moved into our house we had two different damp surveys done - the places they identified as having a problem were almost the exact opposite of the other and one company wanted to install a damp-course above an eight-foot cellar. In the end we did nothing, heated the place properly and have had no problems with 'rising damp' in twenty years.
