Interesting that the fine has recently increased from £80 to £400 max, yet it was £400 in 1978.

Was waiting for someone to spot that! If the council was going with inflation the fine would be so much more than the £400 now. Haringey justs gets more & more filthy unfortunately.

It was superseded by the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 which, inexplicably, set the default fine at £75.

Maybe the £75 was brought in in 2005 to encourage councils to go out and fine people for littering, ... dumping being a separate thing & level of fine
