Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
massive radio aerial appeared next door.
The neighbours next door have popped up a 30ft or so aerial (i think) in their garden.
It connects into one of their windows, then connects to their chimneys.
Not entirely sure what their plan is, haven't had a chance to ask as I'm away and these photos come from my house sitter, but is this allowed?
Apart from being a bit of an eyesore it looks a bit dangerous.

It looks like a radio amateur ( ie hobby ) aerial. Massive is a bit of an exaggeration. Yes, it's allowed unless their lease forbids it.

I make you right there. As an old 'ham' myself, I'm used to seeing this sort of thing. Surprised its still going on TBH, I mean after all, it costs a fortune. There's the three months at night school and exam to get the licence, followed by a small fortune on the radio, arials and all the other kit set up just so that you can talk to the bloke two streets away (which is about as far as that arial will reach) about radios!

This is baffling! Seems that the mast by the fence might just be there to hold up the cable that is coming over the roof and over the chimney and into the window. Where does the cable over the roof lead?
I would call the council and get them to check it out. It looks dodgy, -

That's the utilitarian part of the view, the vine support (though it might resemble a Yagi aerial or some such). No, I was reflecting on relative visual intrusion: the poorly-rendered cinder-block chimney sprouting out of a tiled rabbit hutch look-a-like on top of a lean-to structure at the end of a back garden is what assails the view here. It has an unproportioned and sinister air, and is nothing to do with the two storey industrial building it is built hard against.

Nope! It's only used a couple of times a year to burn garden rubbish. Churchill built walls, others build chimneys. Barbecues happen separately en plein air...

Totally irrelevant in the 21st Century, but in the 1920s / 30s every house would have had an aerial like this attached to their crystal set :-)
