Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Harringay aggro - violent incidents in the last 48 hours (March 2009)

It may just be coincidence but:

- Saturday night, someone shot on Cavendish

- Saturday night (10'ish) we see 4 youths walking up Effingham, 2 of them carrying baseball bats (and clearly not off to play baseball)

- Monday night (tonight), police taking photos on Effingham. When asked, they said there was a fight (if anyone knows any more, please let me know)

Harringay Haiku poem:

Stay indoors don't go out
Watch cop programs
Let your imagination loose
Stay indoors
it's spring

.
Crouch End Haiku (esp for James)

Shop till you drop
You think
Cold winds blow
Cappuccino's cold
Broadway gloom

Isn't this fun.
Looks like the Hornsey Journal is now coming to HOL for it's stories:
Residents posting on the Harringay Online community website said the victim had been "shot in a car at the top of the road" in a suspected "drug deal gone wrong," but a Met Police spokeswoman refused to comment.

Good grief, there's a lovely picture of the area then!

But, yes Sandra, the Journal have been using this site quite a lot for the past year or so. There's an upside and a downside to that. On the downside, they tend to favour the more salacious stories like the one you point to. I'm not sure that we can do anything about that though.

It did occur to me that the article you found is the first time I'm aware of when either the Journal haven't had the resource (or energy) to follow-up a story with their own reporter-power or they've had to rely on second-hand reporting because they've been unable to get any first-hand ones.
The Journal told me recently that their reporter staff have been cut from 4 to 3.
Especially watch US TV series, those are the best...
Hill Street Blues, the best ever.
Walking back from the LCSP meeting last night I saw a bunch of kids on Green lanes walking south. A couple on BMXs. Keep in mind they're literally kids/children. Anyway, one of them had on his lovely black and white checked bandanna proclaiming himself a member of the "wood green mob". There was a fair bit of fresh blood outside the United Reformed Church too but I'm sure it's not related.

Well, why have they moved down here from Wood Green? Someone up there putting pressure on them? If they're not inside at night doing their homework or on their playstations or updating their bebo profile then what the hell else are they going to be doing?
At the start of the meeting (not sure when you arrived), Glyn said that some of their bail conditions meant they couldn't be in N22 (Wood Green) so they have moved to the next post code down (N8).
I heard that (I got there about 5 past and sat next to Wightman Paul). Like I said though, they're just kids and I don't expect them to be banned from certain postcodes as part of their "bail conditions". I was expecting someone older.
John I like that touch: "a fair bit of fresh blood outside the United Reformed Church". Not many churches attracting fresh blood these days.
