This is a recommendation for Mohammad at Alpha Security Locksmiths on Turnpike Lane. And an alert!
We live just off Hornsey Park Road and came home on Sunday lunchtime from a few days away to find a small hole punched in our wooden front door next to the yale lock. After a quick check we were satisfied no-one had got in and I reported it by email as an attempted burglary to the Noel Park Community Police. The Met's online crime reporting system didn't work. I got a call from one of the Noel Park Community Police Officers this morning and while talking it through with him I realised that one of our rear (pvc) doors had also been attacked but had not opened due to two additional internal Chubb bolts we'd installed some 20+ years ago when we were last burgled. I was asked to report it through 101 and two officers turned up and established that as well as the two doors the burglar(s) had tried to jemmy the front windows, and another door at the rear. The burglar(s) also scaled the side passage entrance which is around 20 feet high. The police said they thought a burglar had moved into the area as there'd been a recent spike locally. The SOCO said he/they had used gloves throughout.
Luckily our locks on the windows and doors defeated this particular miscreant. I went to Alpha Security Locksmiths on Turnpike Lane to replace one of the Chubb bolts which had bent and wouldn't open. Mohammad put it onto his vice and spent some 10 minutes straightening it, thereby losing a sale of c£40 *and* gave me lots of advice *and* spent ages trying to locate a particular lock for me. All round good guy.

Sorry to hear you've been through this, but thanks for the advice!
Blimey. Your house sounds like Fort Knox! I would have thought that they would have moved on if they were defeated in the first few mins, so as no to attract attention. This one was clearly very persistent!
Glad they did not get in though...
I think they knew no-one was at home as *long story* our milk was left on the front step from Saturday morning until we returned on Sunday lunchtime. I have to admit I was surprised they made it over the side entrance until a PC pointed out our bins were a rather helpful leg up & suggested we move them. Luckily we had modern doors on the rear extension which are pretty impregnable and the old pvc door had two added Chubb bolts following our previous burglary which defeated his/their many attempts to jemmy it open. They certainly tried hard and partially opened it but Chubb prevailed...
