Just had a quick look through Lammy's twitter posts to see if he's voting against the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill coming before the house this week. Various Labour MPs have taken a stand against the three-line whip put in place by Corbyn.
Each MP has to decide if they are voting on behalf of the country which narrowly voted to leave the EU or for their constituency (who voted them in). The constituency of Tottenham voted strongly to remain.
Anyone know if Lammy has stated how he will vote?

David Lammy has just said in Parliament that he will be voting against triggering Article 50 in the debate. You can re-watch his speech here from 19:42, and he says it right at the end:

Thanks Katie. And on the record here, after the vote. Shows the 47 Labour MPs who voted against.
A sudden migraine, it is reported.

Ach well. Made no difference. To the vote.
I read the text of the speech and thought it was excellent. At least I feel represented by someone in Parliament...
Like it or lump it, the referendum was widely seen and regarded as an in-out referendum. Yes of course the whole fiasco was run purely to supposedly see off the threat from UKIP but it went disastrously wrong for Cameron....and the rest of the country. So either people can campaign for the best deal possible; protecting our rights at work, protecting the NHS, indeed making sure the Tories dont use it as a race to the bottom, which is almost surely what they will do, or, continue with the fantasy that it can be stopped. Corbyn so far, has broadly taken a realistic view; allow for Article 50 to be passed and then make May the culprit for any and all attempts to drive us into bargain basement Britain, in thrall to Trump's fascist America. The belief that Brexit is not going to happen and can be stopped is not only naive, it will only lead to more determination by Leavers to insist they were right, and will let May off the hook.

For those still perplexed by Labour's official position this is well worth a read - agree with the conclusions or not there is some real logic here........
