Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Like Glamgorgeous, I've used Pete the Leak for our house up in Enfield and been very happy with him. A couple of months ago, he wasn't available and so I thought I'd try out Michael Cosgrove who advertises on the site.

I tend not to post reviews on tradespeople until I know the job they've done for us is up to scratch. Both the initial work and the test of a little time does it for me.

Michael's job for us was to replace a shower pump and service a few taps. During the course of his visit he also found a tap on the pipe out of the hot water tank that needed replacing. (I know this needed doing since it's been commented on previously).

I'm not an expert so can't add anything useful on his professional competence, but what he did looks professional and it's all working. I'd say that Michael takes pains to get the job done right.

My sense is that he's also very honest. He's local, living just the other side of Harringay Station. He's also eco-friendly and travels about by bike - it's amazing how much equipment you can cary on a bike!

Definitely worth a try.

He doesn't have a website, but, as is an option for any advertiser, he set up a HoL page here.

Do you know of he services boilers as well by any chance??

He does issues external to boilers but not boilers themslves. Sorry I should have added a link to his HoL page rather than just giving his phone number. The link is now there in the original post.

Cheers Hugh

I had this guy service my boiler recently after he was recommended to me http://www.full-flame.co.uk/

Came when he said he would, fixed the problem and sorted a minor leak he found in the boiler as well. He only repairs boilers so no incentive to write off a boiler and suggest a new one.

Brilliant thanks Andrew that's good to hear

Hi Michael,

You were recommended to me by Emma who suggested I ask your advice re the following, if, of course time permits.  Thanks you in advance.

We were recommended by British Gas to have a Power Flush on our central heating system, as we have recently had issues with the boiler. The engineer said 'we had a lot of sludge that needed to be removed'. The price they quote is £780 which is almost double the quotes I googled.  However, they state that the next one would be 'free of charge' (generally every 10 years).

Has anybody ever had this run through their system as I have been warned that it is very powerful and can cause leaks in the radiator. Also, a number of people I have asked have never heard of it!

Thanks to any suggestions or advice in advance.

We had our system power-flushed about 3 years ago....my recollection was it cost around £425....we were given similar warnings but our radiators are 45 years old and stood the experience perfectly well...I was particularly concerned about the bathroom radiator as that was already more rust than radiator but it was fine also.  The power flushing made a big difference so I'm convinced it was worth the £400, but £780 seems steep.  I suppose it depends on the size of the house - by point of comparison ours is a 3 bed house comprising 8 large radiators in total.

Thanks so much.  This really helps.

I had an intermittent fault with a Vaillant boiler where it needed constant restarting to get hot water at the tap.

Tried 3 plumbers / boiler repair guys I found through a search on here.

None of them knew what was wrong with it. I spent around £500 on various replacements and labour at £85 an hour.

One of them suggested I call Vaillant and I signed up for a £300 (6 monthly instalments) all labour and parts repair plan.

The engineer almost immediately knew what was wrong (turned out to be a faulty pump) and replaced the logic board as well. If I'd known about that service earlier I could have saved myself money!

Just saying, sometimes you may be better off going with the manufacturer engineers.

Appreciate your comments.

Thank you.
