Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there,

We live on one of the roads off Turnpike Lane, back of Wood Green high st. Just wondered if anyone knew who the best person to contact is re anti-social behavoiur in general? Really chronic dog fouling, man on a bike in broad daylight urinating in the street yesterday, what looks like minor drug dealing, rubbish dumping. I know there are specific contacts at the council for the rubbish etc. but do you think the local councillor would be a good route or neighbourhood police?

Many thanks for any advice.

Try the police here Emma. If you've got a smart phone it's easy to report dumped rubbish via the Our Haringey app.Or email Noel Park Cllrs such as Cllrs Mann Stephen (Stephen.Mann@haringey.gov.uk) or Peray Ahmet (Peray.Ahmet@haringey.gov.uk) or Alan Strickland (alan.strickland@haringey.gov.uk)

Or tweet Veolia, usually gets a reaction.

Thank you very much Eugene. Really appreciate the detailed response.

The "Our Harringay" app is a very clever tool for reporting fly-tipping/rubbish/graffiti etc. - it will find your location automatically, you then photograph the offending item, and send it in.  It's unfortunate that I feel the need to report things quite so often.  Today it was dumped shower tray and screen by the entrance to the passage, yesterday it was a scary looking bit of graffiti in the passage.....18 reports last month alone for me....I think I ought to claim a salary from the Council....part time crud spotter

Ha ha, yes Antoinette, you should! Great, I will definitely install the app, very useful and thanks for your reply.

Although, as Antoinette says, it will find your location automatically, it sometimes gives the wrong location and it's not always immediately obvious it has - Haringey do suggest you add the road/location in the description box.

Thanks Eugene, will bear that in mind.

Don't let the amount disuade you. I post far more reports on graffiti. I may be losing the plot but I'm convinced getting tags moved so quickly is something that prevents it in the first place.
The app is brilliant for low level stuff. Please use it as I think it does really help the council. Each bit of graffiti I report gets cleaned.

I haven't tried it for anti social behaviour but the pissing in the treat at Turnpike Lane really annoys me - especially when it's day time and it's next to a public toilet.

Thanks, will definitely try the app. It's just so gross! It was the time my 11-year-old is walking back from school as well. Not happy!

I was using the app to report dog fouling. It sent me responses back saying case closed but the dog poo was still there. I've given up using it. The same thing happened on 5 or 6 separate occasions this summer. In one case, after two months, the same enormous mess is still lurking on my road.

Dog fouling around the ladder and passage seems to have been reaching an all time high recently.

Has anyone had better luck reporting dog mess?
It's awful. I reported it to the council over the summer too, they said they would sort it out but nothing.
You just have to ignore what it says when it says it's opened or closed. Mine often say open when they have been dealt with and vice versa.

Just keep reporting! They even have a nudge!
