Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just to let you know, I've been burgled on tuesday the 12th of July while I was on holiday !

So please be aware, keep an eye on suspicious people and lock your doors day and night while you're not at home !!!

The police could not find any finger prints, they were wearing gloves.

It scares us. Stay inside, watch SkyTV.

You asked:  What do you think of people who do get burgled but keep it quiet lest they scare their neighbours?  I think they are patronising their neighbours who are perfectly capable (unless they fall into some vulnerable group) of processing that information for themselves.

what you're saying is that you loginto HoL to be reminded over and again to lock your door properly ? that's just ..... sad

Well, apparently you don't ever lock your door. That's just.... stupid.

Do you also write your PIN number on the back of your bank card?

you're comments say more about you than they do about me, so thank you.

First sensible thing you've said (although you're should be your) - what my comments say about me is that I take sensible and proportionate steps to protect myself against crime

'sensible & proportionate' isn't logging on to HoL to remind yourself what a dangerous life you live.

now that my point has been well made i'm bored. i'm going to risk a peek outside.

What the area used to be was one of upper middle class Victorians, arguably 'it went down hill' at some point, and is now being brought back to what it once was.  So, where is your reference point?

Yes, very quickly downhill I'd say..  Post WW1 to be precise.

I think you are 'slightly' overstating the actual situation. By the the 1920s 1930s most houses were dual occupancy I think. I guess it just wasn't succesful as a Middle class area. The separation from Hornsey (Main) by the railway, as well as the whole of the shopping area being in the Borough of Tottenham probably played part in that.   As to whether it was actually Upper, Middle or Lower middle class or just plain old Upper working class is pretty much all the same to me. Your wish or for it to return to such is also telling.

Stephen. "Your wish or for it to return to such is also telling."

Really, that's a bit tight. For what it is worth, I am happy to set out my class credentials if that is what you need, but read what I said again. The last bit was the important bit, and which you so cleverly avoided answering by having a pop at what you think I want!

"So, where is your reference point?"

Places change, get over it!

... of course they do. But certainly not always for the better..

I didn't answer the other bit because I just don't accept your agenda. No point in discussion.
