Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Oxford Street to be pedestrianised by 2020 ... so Wightman Rd ...

... can surely be closed to through traffic in the future, as it currently is during the bridge works. If the planners can deal with the re-routing of all those buses and taxi journeys away from Oxford Street for the pedestrianisation plans, it must be possible to do this for Wightman Road as well.

Living Wightman would do well to have a chat with the new Mayor's office.

Yes because Wightman Road is very similar to Oxford Street...

I agree Nick, the taxi drivers will be unhappy.

Oh yes, but can we have a John Lewis, Debenhams, M&S and TopShop too?

And one or two of those spare buses would be handy also.

The point is that luxury shopping is a higher priority than the health and safety of children & residents.

Agreed - if anything, this suggests that Green Lanes is a better candidate than Wightman for pedestrianisation.

Nobody has suggested pedestrianisation for Wightman. Simply an arrangement like the Gardens to stop 120,000 commuter vehicles a week.
We should invite Kings College London to assess both...Wightman and Wood Green, then we will be aware of what we are looking at/ breathing...

You are missing the point FPR; Oxford Street = £££

Wightman Road and Green Lanes are a mere drop in the ocean and neither of them attracts tourists from all over the world.

I think you'd be surprised how many tourists do come to this part of Green Lanes. If you look at the Trip Advisor reviews of some of the restaurants many are from people outside of London and outside of the UK.

a) I don't believe everything I read on Tripadvisor

b) quality vs quantity FPR

I certainly take the reviews with a pinch of salt but I doubt that someone would mention a Green Lanes restaurant unless they'd been. Hardly the stuff you post to impress your mates!
