Local Harringay ward Councillor James Ryan has resigned. There will be a selection meeting by the Labour Party followed by a far more perfunctory by-election.
Zena Brabazon!!!! Please stand in our ward!
Local Labour Party members, please select Zena!
More details here and here. Expect Council Leader Claire Kober to have an alternative candidate in mind.

A "unity" candidate would have to be Labour, because that's what unites us.
You seem to want a 'disunity' candidate
"Us"?
It appears that the Labour party have appointed Seema Chandwani as a "procedures secretary" and Russell Dove (?) as the chair of the process.
Word is the Labour membership are totally confident that both will not do anything that is corrupt and trust them implicitly to run what could be Labour's first transparent and fair selection process. One has even called off any potential "anti bigotry campaign" now that these two are in charge!
Something is deeply wrong with Labour if members are reassured by two people rather than the process. It appears Seema Chandwani has a reputation for being non-corrupt, even the right-winger Luke Akehurst cited her in a blog as being one of the most democratic and transparent with another national election she oversaw a couple of weeks ago.
I guess Seema can be an expert at non-corruption given two corrupt selections blocked her from standing previously, including one which Akehurst was involved in. Although a bit twisted that she is now in charge of a process to select candidates when they blocked her previously
Alas, we may not have a scandal on our hands after all. However 2018 may be interesting as a non-corrupt process may see some people being unable to cheat and we may have some new councillors across the borough.
Watch this space!
I have - and I am being serious here - often wondered if "P Knight" is Seema. Can't prove anything. If I had to put money on it ... :)
They definitely should have made you with a money back guarantee.
I am male, white and live in N8.
I sat on the table adjacent to you at the assembly member hustings and we spoke.
You also leafleted my home a few years ago, and we had a conversation about David Lammy running for London mayor and why I should not vote TUSC.
Next time you will have to do something like the "Magic Handshake".
He has a new job with the GLA apparently. Don't know what doing at the moment but, that's what I've been told.
No constitutional reasons why he couldn't have stayed in the role. One or two GLA members double up as local councillors.
I presume that the Labour Party had advance notice of this and hence the tight deadlines... it's a stitch up.
