Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Salisbury Road/Grand Parade Waterfall. Help! Who do I call to complain?

We have a new water feature in Harringay it seems, just by the 341 bus stop on Salisbury Road. The sadly neglected Victorian mansion that houses Fairline is now covering the pavement, its own walls and people at the bus stop with water. Looking up I spy vegetation in the gutter (as well as a fine Victorian moulding that ain't gonna last at this rate).

So wonderful, knowledgeble HOL people... Who do I need to write to in order to complain? Anyone know who the owner/agent is? Do the council have rights to enforce maintenance on a property, especially if that property is causing a hindrance and possible even a danger to the public?

Over to you...

I can't stand it anymore. Help me before I start making a scene in the street...
You could call Dasos and see if he can guide you. It might at least stop you doing something in street that you'll only live to regret.
je ne regrette rien...jamais
do you often reply to your own posts - is that a bit like sending yourself a postcard!
It was to boost to latest activity as stupidly if you post twice quite close to each other, the groups your posts as 'so n so; started 2 new discussions. So yeah I do when that happens. Little tip for you.

Anyway, I've phoned Dasos on Hugh's advice and he is going to take up the cudgel for now. Still like to know what powers councils have to enforce maintenance on private property. Anyone know?
But please tread carefully.. hasty repairs might ruin it forever.. That would be a shame as it looks as it has never been modernised.. 'crossmyfingers'
This building is the one across the road from the one we 've been discussing on my Flickr page.

A little more beat up but with features still intact. I agree that they should be careful. I'll post a pic on my Flickr page of it later.
if is it dangerous - leaking sewerage or a structure that could fall an injure smoeone, i believe they can enforce repairs ASAP
What's the full address and number, Liz?
Hi, just been on the phone to Dasos, who has spoken to someone. They have promised to get someone down there today or tomorrow at the latest.

The address is 13 Grand Parade, although the door to the flats above appears to be on Salisbury Road.

There's another avenue - going though the 'front door' - i.e. making a direct approach to the owners/occupiers or managing agents of the building.

Can I once more link this to an idea from the U.S. - the Good Neighbour Agreement. (Though if you're Googling spell it 'bor'.) This is not the perversion of the phrase used in Blair's 'Respect Agenda'. It's more radical and much more about empowerment.

Some HoL members were as enthusiastic as me about Jared Diamond's books. Well, this is one of the ideas he recommends for tackling environmental problems by agreement with companies.

Such agreements have proved effective when campaigning groups used their power; but were also prepared to sit down and talk to companies when both parties were willing to enter into genuine dialogue about local concerns.

It's worth a try!
