Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On my run yesterday I noticed that a couple of roads had on street bike sheds. They seem like such a great idea as currently I have to lug my bike through the house - which is particularly rubbish when it is wet and muddy outside.

These seem like such a great idea to give safe storage and encourage more people to cycle - getting healthier and reducing the traffic on the roads.

How can we get more?

Cars come and go... to have a permanent installation outside is something different. I've mentioned above that bike chains etc can be noisy. I can't remember ever being woken up by cars slamming their doors late at night but I am often woken up by the students next door chaining their bikes up to the bike rack in their front garden. Ultimately I think people should be using bike racks and storage in their own front gardens if that's an option. That's what I do. Obviously for some people eg. Who live above shops etc that's not always possible.

Effectively cars do not come and go. Enough of them are parked there often enough and for long enough to completely change the character of the street.

Stationary cars don't cause any disturbance .....and I hardly think bike sheds add to the "character" of streets...you certainly wouldn't put one outside a stately home would you

Antoinette. It takes many things to make up such a diverse neighbourhood. The reality is the sort of folks who live in stately homes are not the sorts of folks that live on Pemberton, unless this is who is doing the dogging Lauren is clearly keeping her eye on.

I have it from a very reliable source that Charles and Camilla got up to all sorts in the back of Charles' Daimler when still married to Di... I think though being chauffeured meant they didn't have to park up in Pemberton Rd or anywhere else whilst they did so..
