The neighbours let you "take a cast"? Wow, nice neighbours ;)
Billy H is quite right about the fit of reclaimed door.
You could also try Stoneage Salvage up at Crews Hill..
They've got a selection of older reclaimed doors that may do the trick. Do weigh up the overall cost of the old door option by factoring in the restoration and fitting, against the new reproduction door as per Bill H. If it is only a marginal difference may be better going for the new one.
You can also, I believe, take old doors that you may find in the street and do a part exchange, but check with them before hand.
I got mine from a neighbour who had it in the front garden to go. I soemtimes wonder whetehr it would not have been better to get a new one built as other neighbouyrs have done!
I also salvaged another local door from a skip. It eventually went into a friend's house on my street too. You'd be surprised what you find when people replace their originals with plaaaaaaaaaaaaaastic! They are being misled about the merits of ugly pvc. Historic England (ex English Heritage) has a good document on how t... with new PVC!
