Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As I was walking past Tesco yesterday, past the youths that congregate around there, I was once again so disappointed to see drug deals being made openly on the street. I know that this is not a new problem, but I just don't understand why it is allowed to happen there. All the time.

I'm just wondering if any of you long-time residents of the area could enlighten me on the status of policing the area and why kids can just stand on the high street and deal so openly. Boggles my mind. Thanks!

If ignorance is bliss, James, you should be very happy.

Why do you think the Aurora Borealis  is not also called the Western Lights ?

Touché!
Well said that man.

I'm glad i kept this thread going but i gotta go. Glad to get the last word based on intelligence and experience.

Later. We'll really miss your insightful contributions. Not.
So I take it that you didn't find your walk a pleasant experience... I think the Lib Dem policy (based on the Portuguese experience - seriously people, look it up, it's worked) is eminently sensible but as they are unlikely to get into power any time soon what do you propose doing to improve things in the meantime?

I hate walking past the dealing by Tesco and certain other places.  It feels intimidating, the smell of weed and skunk is sickening.  I hate the fact that my child now recognizes the smell.

I agree Charlotte. It's not right. A few years ago when my niece was about 14, I remember telling that if anyone offered her weed to just say she didn't have any money. On this particular occasion (she was in her school uniform) the young man concerned said she could give him a blow job instead. She only told me about it recently after I told her about this thread. These are not nice fluffy people doing a public service.

Prohibition huh ? Look where it got us.

But look, FPR, where it got Joe Kennedy's kids: straight to Arlington, well, via the Senate and White House.

Which Tesco, do you mean? The Wood Green one?

The one on the high street next to Turnpike Lane Station. Saw a police officer on a bicycle hanging around there last night.
Brings a whole new meaning to "every little helps"
