Clive is an elected opposition councillor. You call it "muck racking". Others, rightly, would see challenging and highlighting concerns, however small, as central to a councillor's role which, in part, allows democracy to function.

That's a bit of a shame Sarah, I'm sure you know perfectly well that vastly more residents would welcome such a thing.

Sarah, if you/your contacts are still looking for a venue for a cafe then I've noticed that these premises are up for sale on West Green Road. I would welcome a coffee shop/bar along this stretch of road, and have considered doing it myself but have absolutely no experience of running such a business.

It also opposite the West Green Tavern which is up for sale, which, with hopeless optimism I'm imagining will turn into a warm, cosy pub with a range of 4 local ales and sausage rolls :)

Wow.

I noticed several properties available  for sale or lease on WGRd last week when I walked down that way! This has not been the case before!

What has brought this on? Are landlords cashing in? Are they upping their prices driving lessors out?

If the flats in the Lawrence rd development has in fact been bought by owner occupiers then the demographic will drive change in the type of units we see come into the area - gentrification/wider variety.

Has anyone noticed that teh new plastic signed sundae place next to Betfred and Costa C was burnt out last week?

Yes, such a shame! I never even got the chance to try it out.

I really hope they finish the refurb at the Fountain this year... And get some decent ales!

To be honest I quite like the fountain as it is and hope it doesn't become unrecognisably gentfrified. But yes, just one or two, or preferably over 3 ales would be a bonus. I ask each time I go in!

rumour has it they weren't very receptive stocking redemption when they started. Maybe they'll change their mind now we hope

If the ladies loos weren't mouldy and I could get a pint of Redemption that would be an acceptable level of gentrification for me.

Agree!

I'd heard they've done up the gents - although my male friends say it all looks a bit weird in there. Like the sort of toilet where you expect to may a man a pound to hand you a paper towel.

I love the way people talk disparagingly about gentrification but lust after 3 ales on tap

Ale is what my dad drank. He wouldn't have considered it gentrified.

They had a very ugly plastic signage though. I last week I noticed a guy trying very forcefuully to lowerthe meatl shutters. It all seemed a bit odd if you ask me! £@@%$
