Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

"FindMyPast" - who have digitised the 1901 & 1911 censuses - are having free access this weekend:

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/freeweekend

This means you can download a scan of the census records for your house free (it normally costs a few £ for a number of downloads).

Many of the houses in this area were built in the years leading up to 1901 - some may also be in the 1891 census.

The info includes professions & birthplace - and you can see how many people were living in your house...

Click on Address, then just put in Lothiar Road and leave south out and leave all other fields blank.  You then get either Tottenham or Hornsey options - http://search.findmypast.co.uk/streets/street-results-for-1911-cens...

I hope this helps.

Thank you!

Is it a coincidence that quite a lot of residents I've seen from browsing around this area on the 1911 census today were listed as 'spectacle maker' or somehow involved in the spectacle business? Was there a big spectacle making plant somewhere nearby?

Intriguing!
