Oh, that's really disappointing. Was great to have a place like this on our doorstep - music, a good crowd and nice food and drinks. Hope whatever replaces it is equally good.
This is a shame. Someone should bring it back!! how about the lads at Brouhaha getting it and using it as the music place?
Not a bad idea. They would have a place outside their place to develop then, rather than slowly taking over the footpath in front of "Brouhaha", as is happening at present.
I find them all annoying. Brouhaha have moved out further than Autograf though. In the eighties two men used to keep an eye on that sort of behaviour. They had a notebook with how much each shop could encroach into footpath and there were white lines showing this. They repainted these lines as they wore out. It is very selfish, particularly on wheelchair users and buggy drivers. Anyway this is off topic...apologies.
It's not as if these establishments were providing an attractive al fresco dining or wining experience - just encouraging damned addicts to add to Green Lanes pollution while tripping up legitimate pedestrians and still sending much of their smoke back indoors. I tried in vain some years ago to stop La Vina Tapas Bar sprouting this sort of ugly prosthesis to facilitate those who feel they must injest, imbibe, inhale, exhale and excrete simultaneously and in public. I found little or no support, but who cares about Wightman Road? Now we can sit over our tapas inside La Vina on a summer evening and get the full benefit of second-hand smoke through the open doors.
I seem to be missing the vibes. All I see is that greengrocers, coffee shops and restaurants are taking over our footpaths. Even then they cannot be bothered to wash the piece in front of their premises every morning. Time to reclaim the footpaths for the proletariat. Bring back the men with the notebooks I say.
No one said to clear them. They have an allocated piece at the front of their shops. They should respect this and keep it clean instead of trying to take more. These extra seats in front of restaurants results in extra revenues but yet we never see anything given back into the community. Instead the tax payers had to pick up most of the bill for doing up the shop fronts.
