... or so it seems.
Jam in a Jar has been closed 6 weeks or so now. Last post talked of a refurb (with updates) but none of that has happened, for whatever reason(s) ... normally it's a money thing. It is up for sale at Filey Properties, Church St., Stoke Newington for £119,000.
The owner Quto Yuce meanwhile can be found over here happily promoting a new band called The Odd Beats. The band members often worked at/helped out at Jam and/or played there.
Now they're looking for money for their first EP, production costs etc. Check out The Odd Beats
If you're just curious as to what happened to the Jam well, you never know, you may get an answer of sorts if you ask him on Quto's FB page
Quto by the way is the fella sitting on the drum in the video still above & opens the video in his own unique style.
For the most up to date news on The Odd Beats go to their FB page - just back from their grand tour of Glastonbury. More fun on the road than pulling pints :)
You may even catch The Odd Beats when they're in London at ironically another venue similar to what was Jam in a Jar ... the Jamboree over near Limehouse. Just not so easy to get to!

Fair enough running out of money but why lie on the Jam in a Jar FB page about refurbing........gutted this is probably shut for good!! where are we gonna go Matt????
You have to go out of borough now. If you're allowed out on a Sunday night try The Haggerston on Kingsland Rd. Great jazz night from 11pm. Very New York vibe. It's gets busy though.
Venues like Jam are thin on the ground even in London, with that music scene etc. The Jamboree mentioned above is part of it but difficult to get to.
You should drop Quto a msg on his FB page (link above) and ask him what's going on, if anything (I'm not on FB).
Gutted to see it go and under such odd circumstances! Not sure the business is worth £120K mind you... or else I'd consider getting involved.
As you used to serve occasionally behind the bar don't you have Quto on speed dial ... ? Ask him what's happening and let us know!

Hope you guys are right but, the biz is for sale. However, trying to sell it whilst closed down is an interesting approach. Surely also rent is still being paid ... against zero takings. Not a lot making sense here.
But then hey maybe he'll just pop up at summer's end & finishing the touring and simply re-open ... as if nothing had happened :)
