Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi All,

I'm looking for a carpenter who can hang 3 new doors in my flat, give us a bit of advice on different doors and hopefully help with putting some shelves up etc...does anyone have any recent recommendations?

I've looked at a few threads on here under the tag 'carpenter' and contacted a couple of people so far but haven't really got far due to people not getting back to me or not being available.

Thanks in advance,

Ruth

Hi Ruth, I recommend Martin, on 07503 123950.

give Ross Day a bell - he did some work on my wood windows and built my friends' shelves.

Local chap too 07706927771

Hi Ruth,

You could also have a look at Klaus Thorsen's website www.thorsenjoinery.com, this is his sort of thing and I'm sure he'd reply to you promptly. Good luck with your project.

I'd contact Aymon. He's a very reliable, chilled, trustworthy New Zealand carpenter/ plumber/ painter. He's done loads of jobs for us from building a wooden house in the garden, to beautiful floating shelves in our alcoves, sorting out our doors and draft proofing them, fitting new woodensash windows, fitting lights, tiling, plumbing and re routing a drain, fitting a kitchen and building some of it from scratch to painting the inside and outside of our house. He re- fitted two of my neighbours lights as a favour during his lunch hour. His pricing is also very reasonable. I'd highly recommend him. 07743667244

Hi Haf

Do you know if Aymon is still around, I can't seem to get hold of him on that number

I would also recommend Aymon.  He painted my kitchen and fitted  a new ceiling light .  I understand he is a man of many talents and I've lined him up to do some  odd jobs.  He's reliable, charges a fair price and will definitely be my go to person in future.

Well, I contacted Aymon, on the strength of recommendations on this forum.  He showed up, looked at the jobs I needed doing, did 2 of them there and then (though the doorbell he reattached only worked while he was present) and agreed to contact his electrician, Hugo, re the electrical work I needed doing. I'd also taken Aymon to a couple of my neighbours to show him work they needed doing. Hugo duly turned up, looked at the jobs and went to consult with Aymon.  A price was eventually texted to me, which I accepted.  One of the neighbours went with their quote while the other didn't.

Aymon then texted me on 14th Mayto say they could come on 19th and I texted back to say I had the day off the following Tuesday (26th) and could they come then?  Aymon texted me that he thought I was flexible and said he'd need to consult with Hugo.

I saw Aymon's van parked outside the house of a neighbour last Saturday.  Sure enough, he was doing her shelves.  No text to me since 14th May.  I queried it this morning and his reply was that, as I hadn't been flexible, Hugo was now doing a job in the city so would be unavailable for 4 months.  Nothing about the jobs Aymon was to do.

There'd been no indication that if I couldn't do the date originally specified it wouldn't be done at all.

Weird way to do business so I thought I'd warn anyone who, like me, assumed that good recommendations were a guarantee of reasonable behaviour!

NEVER a guarantee but usually offering some reassurance - the more the better. Sorry this one didn't work out. Some don't, I think most seem to.

Nanz Aymon is available again on that number. I think he's doing work on CAVENDISH RD this week. (His phone broke recently, but back in action now). Give him acall.
