My daughter attends the Busy Bunnies nursery at the Greek Church on Frobisher, and I have been concerned by the lack of traffic calming (speed humps) on the first few hundred yards of the road. It seems to be the only road on the ladder without any humps for a distance.
Bad enough, but considering the fact that the first speed hump is situated after the first set of school gates it seems even more baffling.
Today at 17:30, I saw a car lock its brakes whilst slowing down to go over the first speed hump. They must have been doing at least 50mph before that.
I have emailed Emine Ibrahim about this, back in October, but not heard anything back. Maybe, if anybody else shares my concerns, they could drop her and her fellow ward councillors a message.
Cheers,
Matt
Hi Matt
This will be part of the wider traffic and parking review of Harringay that I asked for as a result of receiving so many complaints and seeing the problems residents face daily. This has now been agreed to and there was a public meeting recently. Did you receive information about the meeting through your letter box? I recieved so many complaints about traffic flow and parking issues on the Ladder that I felt that we had got to the stage that the situation was unsustainable and needed to be dealt as part of a bigger solution. I hoped I had emailed back everyone who had contacted me. So sorry that I didn't get back to you with this info. However you will have the opportunity to get involved.
Emine
I think it's emina, not emine.
Although the Council website has it as emine
It's OK :-) I understand
And having had a look, I agree that it would be good to have a speed bump before the school rather than at a point where a skidding vehicle would plough into the children exiting.
Frobisher road is weird. Churches at both ends and the one at the top seems to have some sway over the council. How else were so many non-resident cars able to clog up the parking on Lausanne Rd last Saturday without getting tickets? Special quiet exemption? A shame one could not have been organised for the SHJS fair a few years ago that resulted in parents dropping off equipment being mercilessly ticketed.
Blame Pope Gregory.
OK. ok:
Celebrate Easter, Julian calendar but not [Gregorian calendar] national holiday-calendar, and you're probably beneath the radar - also because it's the far end from Green Lanes.
Announce an event you get attention.
QED
Agree and this was brought up at the traffic management meeting. There is also constant illegal parking at the top end of Hampden Road on double yellow lines by worshippers and I have never seen anyone being fined there. Yet a visitor of mine made a minor error on scratching the permit and was immediately given a ticket.
