Thanks for publicising this Hugh - some people have been querying this shop / organisation for some time now.
I’m sure people will feel more confident with using them from now on knowing they are a registered charity.

Andy another thing that ought to give you confidence is that its run by Nevres Kemal.

Nevres is the former LBH social worker and whistleblower, who attempted to warn LBH about their child protection policies: before Baby P.

I know her heart is in the right place. We need more genuine, gutsy women like Nevres.

I finally got around to ringing them today. They were very pleasant to deal with and came and picked up my stuff when they said they would (just a few hours after I'd called).

I recently discovered the RMVF shop and congratulate Nevres and her colleagues not only on achieving charitable status but on providing a number of community benefits, and that's before knowing about the work they do to support whistle-blowers. Just by being situated in their stretch of the road they are offering a number of people experience of volunteering, there is a steady stream of local people buying reasonably priced goods, and the amount on reuse / reduce should result in a saving to the environment and the costs to the council of landfill. There is a welcome to everyone that visits (if they have time for it) and I look forward to seeing the charity develop it's aims. 

The shop is opposite Gokyusu, bus stop etc., on corner with Mattison Road. Worth a look - the stock seems to change most days and there's a quick turnaround.

I am concerned that this shop is selling a lot of small electrical goods which have not been properly safety tested - merely plugged in to see if they appear to work. I thought it was illegal to do this as it could be quite a safety hazard. Most charity shops refuse to sell electrical appliances because of this requirement.

Picking up those points, one charity chain that definitely   does   resell electrical items properly checked by them is the British Heart Foundation - consequently if anyone has unwanted but working electrical stuff, try them (selected branches, that is) as a donation point before terminally recycling it via Haringey Council.

The RMVF shop is selling electrical stuff that may or may not work, on a 'buyer beware' basis - my son bought a projector for £12 and cannot  get the money back even though it is not working. This may well be legal, but I'm not sure about the morality of it. I would recommend not buying such items from them.

What kind of projector Maddy ? Cine or video ? If it's a video I might me interested and he would get his money back.
