Total rubbish. Israelis are about to elect a left wing government. This black and white 'Israelis = bad, Palestinians = good' viewpoint is just as much part of the problem as Roberta Moore and her ilk.

Israel is founded on the Zionist doctrine which states that Jews are somehow different from the rest of the human race and require their own state in order to protect themselves. It is similar to other forms of extreme nationalism. The Israeli state has no intention of ceding any principle that Palestinians are a valid nation or are entitled to their own state; quite the opposite; many Israeli politicians have made it clear that Palesinians are an inferior breed and should be exterminated. There is no intention of the state of Israel to withdraw from one inch of the territory which they illegally occupy. They evict Palestinians from their homes as a matter of course and are destined to pust them into Bantustans like apartheid South Africa.

You lost me in the first couple of lines Philip. Actually, you lost me when you tried to claim Nick Clegg and David Cameron were Jewish.

Whats scary is armchair detectives making judgments on this case after watching a 1min clip, especially from someone without the most basic understanding of the crime justice system. I mean one changed his plea to guilty and was probably advised to after his solicitor saw all the evidence.

Scary? What's scary is that you can get violently wrestled to the ground whilst staging a silent protest and everyone thinks that's ok.

Your 'black and white' view of this event is just so wrong and you still haven't answer any of my points. Namely why didn't the CPS charge Andy and why did Robert De Jonge changed his plea to guilty. They obviously didn't think he was 'violently wrestled to the ground' (btw according to your link no one is actually on the ground) whereas Jonge HAD 'acted with full intent to cause injury'. As I said before if you'd seen ALL the footage (that everyone in court did) you wouldn't be so adamant in making your alarmist comments. The whole incident was filmed by more than just these JDL thugs and when hopefully more footage becomes available I'll take great pleasure in posting future links here.

There's no reply button under your comment for some reason Chris, but all I'm going to point out is that it wasn't Robert de Jonge who was wrestled off the stage in that footage, look at the pictures of him and then look at the man in the footage - completely different man. In other sources the man is described as a 'pro-Israeli Arab' but is not named. I have no idea who he is but he does appear to be man handled. If he had just been allowed to stage his protest without the organisers interjecting violently then maybe none of this would have happened.

There's no reply button under Chris's's comment because the website structure (nothing to do with any intervention by Robert or the Admins) has a limit of 8 levels of comment in a thread. In this (at least) you have no need of paranoia

Thanks for the info Gordon! The board is probably telling us to give it a rest.

No reply button on your recent comment Hannah. Not sure you are really understanding what's going on here. This group of people arrived with the intention of disrupting the festival. The meeting was entirely composed of people sympathetic to Palestinian civil liberties and interested in looking at the hisorical context. The zionist group have a history of this kind of disruption. I suggest you inform yourself of the context of the issue and of the actions of this group.

But the top table could have handled the JDL demonstration better, rather than getting physical. Result is a lot of publicity for the JDL.

I totally understand that Philip and what I'm saying is that it doesn't seem to be handled very civilly from the off. When you organise a politically charged event during a time when passions are high on both sides, you have to expect these sorts of things. Israeli cultural events have been disrupted too, I'd dare say more Israeli events than Palestinian events. Ballets, orchestras, theatre troops all disrupted. It's just part and parcel of organising these sorts of events. Not condoning those that disrupt them, just saying that the organisers should have expected something like this and dealt with it better.
