Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This piece of utterly pointless and spiteful vandalism seems to have happened on Friday evening - anyone hear anything?

Possibly [LINK}:  this. Nick G-T, the second poster in that link, is the local knowledgeable tree man, I think, so he may well be alerting the council.

If that's recent and you can manage to get it back upright and give lots of water it may survive. The council tree people can act quickly in such a situation. I claim credit for saving one of our new trees that was blown to 45degrees, roots in the air, in last (?) year's storm, did a quick re-stake and the council finished the job in a week. It's now recovered and is fine.

4 snapped between Green lanes and the school

Yes, I mentioned this last night. Whilst leafleting for the play street tomorrow (see here) at around 7.30pm all was quiet. I then went down to Green Lanes just before 8pm and by the time I returned noticed two trees snapped in half. There were two drunk teenage couples falling over themselves in the street, but I cannot say whether they were involved. My near neighbour reported this to the police.

This morning I watched from my front window as another vandalised tree was being removed by the street sweeper. I later noticed a fourth.

This vandalism is particularly hard to swallow as I had been requesting the council for some time to have additional trees planted in the street. If anyone saw anything, please could they report it to the police. I have emailed the head of parks at the council.

Thanks Nick, Please let me know  if I can be of any assistance.

Revised tally: 5 trees.

Missed one, 6 in total. 4 planted last season and two semi-established. Has anyone noticed recent damage to trees in other streets?

Unbelievable

If this has become a "thing" then it needs to be "nipped in the bud". We can't afford to be planting new trees all the time.

Agreed, this incident is a cost of well over a £1,000 to residents.

Is there anyway we can make it a policing priority for a couple of weeks? If it catches on as a thing to do it could be devastating.

So sorry to hear this. So depressing.
