I'm not sure what the message of this Green Lanes advert is, any ideas?

Yes, since Paul Simon have traded, trafficked, let and managed lots of other dodgy commodities around our streets, isn't this just their next phase?

I've just paid a visit to the Paul Simon Emporium to negotiate the purchase of some sex. The four (thankfully) underemployed and (hopefully) soon to be unemployed 'agents' - three male, one female - failed to pick up on my delicate irony, so I asked them politely if they didn't think the window poster a little bit off even if times are (gratifyingly) tough for their (tawdry) trade. I referred them to the feelings of the area's residents and when they asked, 'What residents?', I suggested they have a look at Harringayonline and click on 'Paul Simon'.
If McBridge deserves a dedicated petition, why not PAULsexSIMON ? I think they've earned it on many counts.

What I really objected to was its crass and tiresome tackiness. There is just something profoundly undignified about it. I guess times are so hard they just don’t care about that (if they ever did).
I also thought about going in to speak to them too, but decided against on the basis I didn’t want them to think it was having the desired effect. But it clearly is because we all noticed it, it’s being discussed, and every time it’s discussed their name gets a mention. How immensely irritating.
Having said that, I don’t see how droves of estate agents becoming unemployed will enhance my prospects in life.

Yes Cat, it's the tackiness of Paul Simon's tawdry trade I was getting at - not an all out attack on estate agents or their employees who like everyone else would like to hold on to whatever job they have.
But given that Grand Parade alone has at least NINE major estate agents plus one or two minor ones, wouldn't it be nice, when they start to fold over the next few months, to see Paul Simon disappear first. Wishful thinking, I know, as they're going to survive any recession, slump or depression that's coming.
In general, I find PaulSimon-style low-level tackiness along Green Lanes more in-your-face, crass and depressing than even 2-metre high metal railings, the Colisseum or new-build behind the Salisbury.

It does seem inevitable that some will fold and I agree with you there Eddie that, if it has to be any of them, I'd rather it was this lot. I wonder how much lower they'll go. [Sigh.]

For the destruction of the Coliseum alone, they should suffer.
This sign looks like the Harmony adult shop on Charing Cross Road.......not that I know much about that shop!
