I need to replace a section of damaged coving in the lounge and am looking for somewhere local that may supply this sort of thing and have attached a picture of it.
I've looked in Homebase but they only have the usual standard type. This is an original feature I am trying to replace but want to avoid the expensive alternative which would involve taking measurements, making a mould and casting a new section.
Any advice welcomed.

You could try this local place. John Stott is a nice guy. They do all sorts.
Hi Philip,
I know where that place is, he's been there for years and I'll check it out.
Many thanks,
Nigel
Have you tried cornicescentre.co.uk?
Yes I have them on my list of companies to contact thanks...
Hello,
My profession involves the surveying of architectural detail dilapidations to Georgian and victorian houses. This coving forms part of the ceiling construction and in fact if you look at the curved part it even goes to an elevation which is greater than that of the actual ceiling covering.
You cannot just simply cut out the section which is damaged and replace it with new coving. you must employ a suitable skilled person who will be able to do one of two things:
1. chisel out the cracks and apply new plaster to make that section of the coving appear to be straight when in fact its not due to movement.
2. remove the coving in question on the ceiling and re mould a new piece on the ceiling.
both are very time consuming and would cost a fair amount of money.
Thanks for your response Peter.
I agree with your feedback so could you recommend anywhere local I could get this done?

Nigel,
Try the North London Plaster Coving Mould Company. They are very popular for this type of work in North London. They have there own Workshop, and stock the ORIGINAL Moulds for most of North London area.
Hi - try Chris Stevens on either Holloway Road or in Muswell Hill. I know they deffo display them in Holloway Rd branch they com ein either 2 or 3m sections I think - prices seemed reasonable. Good luck - wish it was only a section of ours we have to replace - gotta do the lot!
