On my 7th birthday I marched alone from Seymour Road up to that Library, full of excitement at the thought of borrowing my first book, to come away only with a card for my mum to complete.   I can still remember the disappointment.

Did you go back with the card filled in, Geraldine? What was your first book from Stroud Green and Harringay?

It's on the spot joining but please take 2 forms of ID (one with your address on) and your parent if you're under 16 to avoid disappointment

Oh, yes, I went back with the card the same day.  I wish I could remember that first book.  There was one called "Tommy and his dog Hurry," but  it may not have been the first one.  I loved the Just William books, I remember, and also - horrors - Enid Blyton!  There have been so many books since then...

I am delighted the Library is still up and running and good of you to encourage membership.  I've heard that many have closed down because of government cuts.  It's a super Library and I guess I could still find my way around it blindfold!
