Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there Harringay Online!

This is Ebony and Paul Harding, Harringay residents since 2007.

We thought it was time to share some details with you about our new venture on Green Lanes. If you are regulars at Blend Cafe you may have noticed some work ongoing 2 doors down at 581C, the old internet cafe. We have been busy these past months readying the site so that by Christmas we can open Harringay's newest specialist grocery store.

We will be stocking fresh organic produce sourced predominantly from British farms, free range British meat, dairy, fish, some vegan and vegetarian food and artisan bread from local bakeries as well as loads of other healthy and top notch delicious goods.

Alongside all this amazing food, we will have a wide range of wine including many organic and biodynamic varieties and an expansive range of local London/UK craft beers and ciders.

We are both big music lovers so we also plan to stock a small range of new and second hand vinyl records and cds.

Please bear with us while the renovations are ongoing, we can't wait to open the doors and hope you will be as excited as we are about the Harringay Local Store.

If anyone has any favourite items they'd like us to carry, feel free to mention them in this thread. All suggestions are most welcome!

See you soon,

Ebony and Paul

Montezuma's or other gluten-free chocolate. Burt's crisps. Salami made with corn dextrose rather than wheat dextrose. Really nice streaky bacon. Gluten-free meatballs and cakey things without a million dodgy ingredients. (There's a theme developing...)

A good selection of properly kept cheeses will get me hammering on the door

or make it a pick-up point for CropDrop's weekly bags.  Better still, get them to supply the shop, as a first in potential expansion into retail?

Hi all

Its great to hear your positive responses to our new store opening. Appreciate all the suggestions coming forward too, I hope we get the chance to make all of you happy with our selections!

Just to reply to a few of you who are after specific items and had questions:

@pamish - we will definitely have a discount in place for HOL members on opening day when we hope you will come in to find your Marigold braised tofu. Re Crop Drop, I had contacted them a few months ago to find out their position on retail/wholesale relationships, but no reply so will be chasing them again thank you for the reminder. We have a number of fruit and vegetable suppliers in place however we plan to rotate these and use more than just one at a time so it would be great if Crop Drop were interested too.

@Andrew - message sent :)

@Dee - your first two requirements no problems, and looking into The Grenada Chocolate Co as we speak!

@Hugh - done!

@SarahC - we will have a wide range of gluten free products for our gluten intolerant/sensitive customers.

@Michael Anderson - I hear you on the cheese front and hope we will have you covered :)

@Pav - that's our intention, to bring a more UK and organic focus to the fruit and vegetables on Green Lanes. We realise you can get an astounding array of quality produce on Green Lanes but the local organic varieties are sadly lacking and we hope to fill that gap.

The Haelan Centre stock it. It would be nice to be able get it more locally.

How lovely. Really looking fwd to it.

Can I put in a request for Tartex Vegetarian pate?

This is great news, really look forward to you opening. Suggestions would be Wildes Cheese, Tottenham based cheesemaker, if you are selling alcohol, locally produced ale such as Redemption and my husband's request would be organic garlic. Thank you.

3/3 affirmative ;)

Yes, Redemption beers, bottle conditioned and all the way from N17 ! Currently on Grand Parade at Cafe Lemon, so a retail outlet would be welcome too.
Yes please!

e5 bakehouse bread (esp baguettes), they do great range of cakes/sweet rolls etc.

I'd want e5's Borodinsky bread - I don't think Flourish do any rye.
