*Cough* so you've never used a chainsaw.

Please, try all other options. 'Geared' long-arm pruners. Or a timber saw plus extending handle/pole for high-up branches, for example. Or, if your budget will run to it, a professional - there are recommendations for gardeners on HoL.

Before you use something that can so easily injure you. The golfer Greg Norman (link ---> ) was lucky.
