Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From us, to everyone who visited the first Harringay Block Party today.

We hope you had fun, loved the food and drinks, art exhibition, entertainers, dancers, band, DJ and kids activities.

This wouldn't be a success without the residents supporting it, so it's very cool that so many of you came today. If you took any pictures, we would love to see them!

Last but certainly not least, thanks to Liz, Lizzy, Priya, Ebony and Paul Harding, John, the volunteers, Matt Cuthbert for designing our amazing posters, Winkworth for their support...and thanks to my co-organiser, Phil K.

It was really good! Thanks all of you for organizing it, hope you do it again next year. The children's activities and entertainer were a really good idea

Thank YOU. We all had a wonderful time too xx

As well as all the great food and drinks stalls it was fantastic to see the art and visit the Kurdish Community Centre. It was not exactly like the Hidden River but it has opened yet another special hidden corner of Haringey to me. Thank you.

Thank you everyone who was involved, it was great fun.

I had no idea until now about the background 'hurdles' the organisers faced, and I'm very sad to hear that some of our local representatives tried to stop it happening.

Thanks for getting this organised, I was impressed with the food selection, and  nice touch with the bar.  Unfortunately I missed the band (s) but enjoyed the old skool dnb set - sitting in the sun and supping an ale - very nice.  Hopefully this will only get bigger and better - our own mini carnival.

Thank you to all who were involved in organising this event, especially as it transpires, in the face of adversity. Unfortunately my family couldn't stay long, but it was enough time to see the organisers are onto something. It certainly had a community feel; there were familiar and friendly Harringay faces everywhere. We look forward to the next one. Well done.

I have a stack of photos mainly taken in the garden but here's 12 I like - the set has 65! - click on any photo to view large. Whole set is here.

Great photos Liz- look at all those creative kids and talented Harringay residents!

Hi Liz, great pics, pleased to see one of your favourites is of my sister's artworks. This was the first opportunity she has had to showcase her art, thanks to all involved!

Hi Vicki - if that's the reaction of the GLSG members, than more power to your elbow.  They obviously don't have a clue that things are changing round here, probably because they don't live in the area.  Either that or they want to maintain the status quo.   Lets make this bigger and better next year.  Cheers Glen

Oh, I don't know - from Liz's photo it looks like I was having great fun!

Yes indeed Geoff, not EVERY member of the GLSG is unsupportive. If only we could persuade them all to come dancing
