Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I have often seen events posted for the Green Gym at Harmony Gardens on HOL so, having never visited before, I took the opportunity during Saturday's Lordship Fest to visit the gardens, which are situated in front of Broadwater Farm Community Centre in Adams Road.

Harmony Gardens are wonderful - a gorgeous mix of vegetables and flowers growing out of containers, walls, tyres, wheelbarrows...

I managed to get five minutes with Robbie, the head gardener (you can just see the top of his hat in the photo below), who explained that they began the project in 2010 on what was waste ground and have transformed the site with the help of schools, volunteers, and people sent from JCP for training into a thriving vegetable and flower garden, evoking the farm history of Broadwater Farm (in 1920, Broadwater Farm was the last remaining agricultural land on Lordship Lane surrounded by housing on all sides)

Robbie and his team grow where ever there is a space, including on the tops of fences

Even on an overcast day it's a beautiful and inspiring place to visit.
