You Wait Ages for a Market..then...........
.....two come along at once.
So what have we done to deserve this?
Harringay Market is being reborn this week based at the Kurdish Centre in the Gardens, then a week later a new market is opening up in Harringay Market's first home.
Let's not even mention another exciting foodie arrival due in the hood in the coming months.

Yes, I noticed there were some people posting with made-up names that I hadn't read posts from before. That was one of the reasons I stopped using StroudGreen.org because hardly anyone used their real names and there were a LOT of unpleasant 'trolls' (if that's the right word) using the site and slagging people off personally. But you didn't know who they were. I like this site as I know some people personally and others I feel I know because they post a lot.

That FOIs thing is just about the most ridiculous thing I've heard in my life. Seriously, let's get some perspective here. And I'm quite happy to go on record without any anonymous account usage to say as much.
I also have to agree, John, that the timing of this new venture is kinda 'interesting'.

I'm the organiser of Noel Park Market, which has temporarily closed but will also be moving to a new location.
Frankly, I welcome the competition. One of the biggest challenges when running a market in this area is luring the vendors to Haringey, when they have so many markets available in more affluent areas. If Haringey becomes known as a place that's friendly to markets, then the stallholders are more likely to be interested. As for "feeling sorry for the vendors," since our smaller markets can't compete with the likes of Broadway Market and Kerb in terms of footfall, many traders can only sell at the smaller markets, such as ours if they trade at multiple markets at the same time, so it's all good really.
So I say yay for the competition. Perhaps it will herald a new era of openess and cooperation between the markets. After all, since we rely on foot traffic, we're not really competing for customers, just vendors.

I just wanted to add that I find it strange that the Chestnuts Market twitter feed is on lockdown.
