The new Green Lanes bars and cafes opening between Pemberton Road and Effingham Road are beginning to show a clear trend...
New trendy Polish restaurant about to open next to Yasar Halim
Brouhaha doing great guns next door
Passion Cafe with a great new Chef (old Carpet Shop)
New American style Bar and Burger place on the corner (old Obergine) about to open
The inimitable 'Blend' cafe further up
Jam in a Jar bar, food and music venue - now well established
and probably others I've missed...
Next it'll be a delicatessen and a Waitrose....
No complaints provided we don't replace the Mediterranean buzz of Green Lanes with a scene that aspires to Crouch End (& priced accordingly)!

We have just finished the Coast to Coast walk, in a farmhouse near the end of the walk we were chatting to another couple over a meal and asked them, as you do, where the came from, North London was the reply, Oh, which part do you live in, and they named somewhere we had never ever heard of. Where's that then we asked as we live in N4? Watford was they rather sheepish reply. They also quietened down a bit after that exchange as well. Unless Watford is in North London now, areas seem to migrate quite freely these days.

You have defined Crouchendification better than I ever could...
I quite like YH too, but they lost my respect a little when they got funny with me for taking pictures. Why would that be a problem in a bakery?
If I want to take photos of people inside their shop/restaurant etc I ask permission. I find it's usually not a problem.
In 2007 a Belgian cousin stayed with us for a few months and he took a short series of photos of traders inside shops in Tottenham. Also in Shepherd's Bush market. What came across was people's pride.
I wouldn't take pictures of people, Alan, that would just be rude! Also I find food to be infinitely more interesting as a subject...
Like gravid gravlaks trending Nordically on Green Lanes.
Has there been a better thread on HOL? This should be serialised on Radio 4 or perhaps made into a movie. Great work people!
Bit of a latecomer to this thread...Just bought in Seven Sisters and I'm all for it! (as someone who couldn't afford to buy in Stokey / Dalston). Hope this 'Crouchendification' somehow finds its way towards us!
