I take my work trousers to George's for alterations, and they always grumble that they don't do that kind of small job... then they always take a look and do a good job on it for a fiver anyway :)

Magic Wand dry cleaners have a great tailor too. On Green Lanes, not far from the post office and near Mehmets (I think that's what it's called) hair dressers.

I give a vote for magic wand as well.  Took a suit jacket in to get it fitted better and some trousers where I needed the legs made less baggy the other day, both were done quickly and importantly right first time, for about a tenner each, which seemed pretty reasonable to me

As an aside, don't know if they do tailoring proper, but Zephyr Dry Cleaners, 59 Grand Parade, Green Lanes are very good for mending, taking up hems and the like.
