Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Not normally my favourite sort of topic, but an interesting article for those of us who put faith in the ability of sunscreen to *completely* defend against harmful UV and ultimately skin cancer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-27793354

Something to watch, especially with the kids.

And there is another school of thought which says an increasing number of people are suffering from Vitamin D deficiency as a result of using sunscreen and/or avoiding exposure to sunlight.

NHS advice here. For children I just put sunscreen on the bits that poke out and burn:

  • tops of feet
  • front and back of knees
  • shoulder blades and shoulders
  • neck & face

And no lying about in the sun for ages and also wear a hat and shirt a lot.

Skin cancer is the biggest killer of children in Australasia and Chile thanks the to hole in the ozone every summer. Little do people in Europe know that an ozone hole develops every summer here to. Consequently, skin cancer cases are rising very fast here too.

My fella has had it twice. Mostly comes down to genes, unfortunately. There's only so much you can do to limit exposure to sun, and it's not always people's fault for not being careful or whatever.
