Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This is bad news for residents of the Harringay Ladder and Gardens as one of Mr Ozbeks main wants is to increase traffic to the area for the traders on Green Lanes. One of his ideas is to remove the bollards to the Gardens roads and also the traffic calmers on Hermitage Road so that the traders can get more visitors.

I hope we can do something about stopping him.

Here Here Richard. Many of us so fed up with this rubbish and filth in our streets. The food waste is a real problem. There should be more pressure on local businesses to treat the local area and its residents with respect not just view it as a cash cow.

No chance that the bollards will be removed. There was a consultation just a few months ago about closing the junction permanently!

Yes and he got the vote to keep them closed halted. The council have now given the traders the final say about the bollards.

As I recall, the only options were either a permanent closure of the intersection or the introduction of an annual fee to maintain the rising bollards.

Yes and the residents voted unanimously for permanent closure. This has now been given to the traders to vote on for some reason.

The result was hardly unanimous, a difference of only 6 votes or so.

I, along with a number of other Gardens residents, also objected against the decision, as the poll did not distinguish between those who own a vehicle and those who do not.

There was also the point that residents of Salisbury Gardens were unable to participate in the first consultation, given that the closure of the intersection would displace traffic onto their road.

Yes that's how the Labour run Haringey council operate. Never think twice about our feelings as residents - they take part in voting fraud which saw Zena Brabazon (who was a good Labour councillor) being replaced by this new guy, Ali Ozbek. And why have the traders being given the say above residents??

Did you also know that his family also own the shisha bar Rakkas.

no wonder how he can run a shisha bar which is 100% closed ( against the smoking indoors law ) - clearly some sort of favoritism involved.

Thanks Adele for pointing this out. If only we could raise more awareness of this around the community...every resident in Harringay & St Ann's deserves to know this

I am not usually one for optimism but he is just 1 Councillor – surely he can’t do that much damage?  Do we know if he will be selected for a cabinet position?

I must say I am disappointed with the results (but not surprised), but more so with the 60-odd% who could not be bothered to get off their bums to vote.

With the closure recently of the GLSG I am confident that none of the councillors elected can cause too much damage. Who knows, they may even turn around and surprise us.
