The Real Labour Manifesto
Not the dull, Koburbling stream of inanity I posted on HoL on 1st April. Which incidentally, was the real thing - if only a draft. But still precious as it contained the words of the Dear Leader herself. Plumbing the very shallows of her political convictions.
No. I'm told that sometime over the weekend, in Priory Park the very heartland of Labour's solid voting masses, the Party faithful gathered to acclaim its 2014 Manifesto. Did anyone hear the joyous singing? Or watch the marching myriads?. Or post a group selfie? Most important has anyone got a link so we can download a copy and be truly impressed and begin discussion?

So far I've had time for only a few minutes glance though. But superficially at least, it looks similar to my 1st April spoof-spoof. It's posted on Scribd.com by Joe Goldberg and signed by Clare Kober. So status quo at the top echelons of the Muswell Hill Colonial Administration.
Oddly enough the Koberfesto doesn't seem to be posted on Haringey Labour website. Maybe my fault for overlooking it? Or perhaps they are embarrassed? Or simply incompetent.

Aan, I note the Manifesto cover with wry amusement.
For this attractively-produced publication, the front cover comprises the rose window of Alexandra Palace.
The new pride is surely welcome.From the cover alone (chosen for the purpose of winning an election) no one would guess that this is a representation from the same party that strained every sinew and used every trick in the book, to try to sell Alexandra Palace and possibly for as little as £1,500,000. And to sell to a former slum landlord, to whom they also promised, in the secret Lease, permission for use as a casino.
Nor mention of the former Council Leader most associated with the sale attempt of our Charity's main asset. As chairman of the Trust Board and for his disastrous Licence-to-Firoka, he was – following my Complaint – suspended for four months + training.An independent report calculated the direct losses from the Licence he caused, as between £1.5m to £2m.
In many respects the slick manifesto production is a continuation of the glossy Haringey People magazine, where investment is made in image, PR, presentation, feel-good and form-over-substance.

Is that it, Clive? "Wry amusement". About the cover of Labour's manifesto. And about Labour's continuing endorsement of Charles Adje? Oh, and yet another dig at the Haringey People magazine. How very wry. How amusing.
Is that really the best you can do, Clive? Not even a bark; let alone some bite. More of a tiny yelp. Have the LibDems tamed you that easily?
Because you know and I know that if the LibDems were in the slightest bit serious about winning Haringey Council they would have put up serious candidates in White Hart Lane ward. And helped them run a strong campaign to defeat Charles Adje and Gideon Bull.
In my personal view, these two people should not be in public life. Not least because both have, in the past, been criticised by the Standards Committee/Standards Board for England.
If support for UKIP taps into anything that's actually decent in British life, it's the widespread and well-deserved public contempt for politicians in all the established parties. Cllr Adje and Cllr Bull have both done their modest bit to bring their own party and public life into disrepute.

Alan I should have added that, even with Cllr. Adje's record – only a part of which I sketched – the Haringey Labour Party even re-selected their former leader to stand again.
And yet, what was the statement by the current Leader, issued immediately after the two-day Standards Hearing? Do you have the text Alan?
I do not know Cllr Bull, outside his theatrical performance at the now-infamous "Scrutiny" committee meeting concerning the council's regrettable Finsbury Park concerts policy. However, I readily agree that Cllr. Adje should not be in public life.
How very wry. How amusing. Is that really the best you can do, Clive? Not even a bark; let alone some bite.
Alan you will know and understand better than most, that my own research, response and action over this person's conduct were not confined to amusement, wry or otherwise.

Clive, I always gave - and continue to give - full credit for your work on helping to expose Charles Adje and shed sunlight and fresh air on his behaviour at Ally Pally. Pursuing this relentlessly through the Standards Committee.
The words "wry amusement" are your own. I don't see it as in any way amusing or wry (ironic?) that either Adje or Bull continue as councillors.
Your party is supposed to be the opposition on the Council. It has done an appalling job - especially over the past five years as the Council drifted and failed under a useless, right-wing "Labour" leadership.
Although perhaps it tells us something when that description applies as much if not more to Richard Wilson and Katherine Reece as to Claire Kober and Joe Goldberg.
C'mon Clive. You can do better than wry amusement & having a pop at the Haringey People magazine <again>.

I agree but as you know, I was referring to the use of an image of our Charity's main asset, that the Council Majority Group tried so very hard to put into the hands of a former slum landlord (with promise for a casino).
It was Cllr Adje whose conduct was in question at the Standards Hearing.
But let no one pretend that he was not, or did not believe that he was, acting in line with the long-time, declared policy of the majority group. Indeed it was probably on that basis that he argued privately that he should be re-admitted to the Group. If so, it is contemptible.
For this reason, it would therefore be unfair to place all blame on him. (For the avoidance of doubt I bear this Councillor no personal grudge, not least because I do not know him.)
He acted on behalf of Labour Group Members, all of whom ducked for cover when the truth surfaced about the Licence-to-Firoka and the extent of the losses. I refer to the three Walklate Reports, the last of which was prompted by my formal Complaint.
The Council Minority Group's position on this matter was reported at the time. That Group does not, of course, get to select candidates for Haringey Labour. That is in the hands of the local Labour Party. Which, together with the St Ann's affair, speaks volumes.

Seema, you did indeed. And now the Manifesto is also posted on Labour's website. So plainly no embarrassment at its almost total lack of substance; and support for right-wing policies.
So apologies, Seema, that I missed its email arrival in our house. Possibly while I was uploading photos of the cleanest streets in London - as boasted about on page 4.
Or perhaps I was about to leave for the Defend Council Housing Meeting in Northumberland Park. A packed hall giving people a chance to meet several of the election candidates -some Greens and some TUSC. I looked around for Labour councillors Kaushika Amin, John Bevan and Sheila Peacock. But it was so crowded I must have missed them. Obviously, they'd have spoken out with great passion against the social cleansing proposals.
As Labour's Manifesto was packed with lots of things like this, I am disappointed they didn't use my photos on Flickr. Although if anyone else feels like celebrating London's "cleanest streets" do please take photos and post or tweet them.

At the end, you will see that questioned are being taken by Beth James, the Political Assistant to the Labour Group. As you'll be aware, the post is politically restricted and funded by the taxpayer. Well done for spotting this. I think it's the very first time I've ever agreed with you.
Very unfair on Beth James the political Assistant if they asked her to break the rules.
It was also disgraceful that Kober and Goldberg used public funds to pay some Oxford firm to make videos for Vimeo and YouTube which pretended to be public information; but which, in my view, were actually paid-for ads for the Kobertory Party. One video anticipated material later in the Manifesto.
