I notice Claire and Joe have cleverly left "Muswell Hill" out of their addresses. That's the third different address I've seen for Ali Gul Ozbek.

Oh leeeve it aht, John or non one's ever going to take you seriously about anything (or at least be equally critical of David Schmitz for not including Harringay in his address...........or perhaps realise that it's irrelevant and might be the result of any number of things.)

Lydia included Muswell Hill in hers. I think it's relevant when you live in the most expensive part of Haringey but represent one of the poorest parts. I doubt Joe and Claire attend parties with people in Seven Sisters outside of "work time".

Well, to be fair, it doesn't say "Muswell Hill" on my address, either, although had I particularly thought about it, I would not have reckoned it necessary, living as I do in a road called Muswell Avenue and assuming that everyone knows where N10 is.

I agree that "Grasmere Road" is a bit more opaque but again, you can't get away from that N10 postcode.  Nice place, Grasmere Road, btw.  Quiet.  It has a barrier just round the corner on Grosvenor Road, so there's no thru traffic.

Lydia Rivlin: Conservative Party candidate, Harringay Ward.

John, please ignore Hugh's jokey (?) comment. If we are ever to have clean elections we need to insist on some basic honesty.

Sure, let's expect the very best of the good citizens who've put themselves up for election.

But let's also learn from St Ann's Labour party ward selection and not be the mugs and patsies in a dubious process. Checking carefully where people really do  live.  Or work - if they are standing on the basis of a business address. Which means there's a job to be done - including checking the names and addresses of the ten residents who proposed candidates.

I also await Justin Hinchcliffe posting any evidence - if it exists - that people have been nominated who don't live in Haringey. But apologising to the LibDems if it turns out his suspicions were wrong.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor until May)

Mr Stanton, evidence provided. Ketchup with your words? I note with interest you proposed Reg Rice and Mrs Stanton proposed the new chap. What about poor Lorna?

Mr Stanton, you asked me for "evidence". I gave it to you, then go silent. Very unlike you. Why?

Thanks Hugh, useful reference!

The 'local' LibDems are in official meltdown. In a previous thread, which I can't find, I said that I suspected that the LibDems would have one or two candidates from outside the borough. Alan Stanton challenged me. According to the official list published by Haringey Council today, at least FIVE (out of twenty seven) candidates live outside of the Borough of Haringey. Whilst that it legal, it strongly suggests that they are VERY weak on the ground here.  Here they are:

GOKDEMIR Ilkin

27 Herrick House,
Howard Road,
London, N16 8PS
Liberal Democrats (Hackney)

ARULIAH Thuranie
16 Moffat Road,
London, N13 4SA
Liberal Democrats (Enfield)

ALMA Ramazan
14 Gilby House,
Berger Road, London,
E9 6HT
Liberal Democrats (Hackney)

OKTAY Savas
105 Underwood
Road, Chingford,
London, E4 9EE
Liberal Democrats (Waltham Forest)

GUVERCIN Ali

4 Talbot House,
Hornsey Road,
London, N7 7LT
Liberal Democrats (Islington)

In addition, the majority of their Tottenham candidates do not live in the constituency-- yet they talk about gaining control of council. In other news, Freddie Starr ate my hamster!

Justin

Declaration: I am a Conservative candidate for Seven Sisters

I note with interest a couple of Harringay addresses listed as "Hornsey". Another mistake from Electoral Services (as Michael pointed out, the name Conservative is mis-spelt twice in St Ann's)? Or do the candidates really think they're in Hornsey?

JH-a candidate for Seven Sisters (Conservative)

Not that I particularly want to prolong this ..

But think you will find that Harringay addresses officially get classed as Hornsey by the PO. So I don't think the candidates involved are trying to make any point at all and you should read nothing into it (except possibly into their not realising how even their postal address will get so closely scrutinised!)

The elections department will only use the addresses given - they cannot change them. I suspect a tired council employee, after a long day, simply typed in Hornsey, instead of Harringay, by mistake.
