Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

You know how when you go away and you come back you can often spot something that you are just not sure if it has been there for ever and you have missed it or it is new???

I was a bit annoyed that as part of the GL regeneration some of the scabby and superfluous telephone boxes along GL were not removed to open up the street (I can see 6 from the bottom of my road alone). Apparently though the owners make more money from the advertisements the boxes carry than the calls made from them.

Nice!

Yeah, get rid of these. They're just used to stay out of the rain when you're smoking or talking on your cellphone. There is enough offensive advertising on Green Lanes as it is.

Almost nice to see Liptons back - there was one in the Lanes in the 50s and 60s....

Are they waiting for licences to be revoked, I thought a lot of these telco's went bust years ago, a point for discussion that should be resolved before work is signed off on Green Lanes.

The worst case is the BT phone booth on Wightman Rd, which I reported before and after the Depot Fire to BT, yesterday I found that the phone receiver, still attached was firmly wedged into a wheelie bin full of heavy material, & I couldn't prize it free. (Glass was still shattered on side panels.) I have reported this to Veolia & BT. I never thought Wheelie bins could fit perfectly into phone boxes, but in this instance they can.
Checked it out yesterday
245 Wightman rd depot
0208 3487909 (out of order)
OS No. N8 0BA 243/45 Wightman rd

Took out 3 bags of rubble from wheelie bin to discover a completely knackered hand receiver, at least Veolia can retrieve the wheelie bin from the booth unattached.
The Lipton's top has been trophied, (I noticed canvassing yesterday evening,) has it blown away, or just been recycled?
