Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Friend was at a meeting last night re the Heartlands development at the back of Shopping City. On the Traffic agenda item there was talk of a survey to look at the viability of improving traffic flow resulting from this massive Heartlands development by turning Wightman into a one way going south.

Haringey Heartlands project

proposed Heartlands development

Even more concerning is the knock on effect of this change to Wightman Rd. It was felt that Endymion Rd, Green Lanes (betw Endymion and Turnpike Lane) and Turnpike Lane itself would need to be a part of this proposed new one-way system! Lots of widening works necessary.

Anyone else have info on this? Please let us know. Ta.

The council have been wanting to do this for eons. You think that Wightman/Turnpike/Hornsey Park junction always looked like that?

I know, that's what's concerning! Maybe Hugh can start a petition? Like when the council proposed pedestrianization of Wood Green High Rd years back.

Wow, so while the rest of London is planning to remove gyratories because of the blight they are on neighbourhoods, there's a proposal to surround the ladder with a new one.

Absurd, and worrying.

No-one gave a bollard about the Gardens apparently :) Although 'car park' was uttered as a passing comment. These planners can be somewhat aloof at times!

This is bizarre. A lot of other councils are doing the exact opposite, making roads two way again. If this can be managed on a street like Tottenham Court Road...........

Here we go again - may Beelzebub grant me patience. The only fucking way to SURROUND THE LADDER with a gyratory is to force you buggers to drive your metal junk carts along Turnpike Lane (A), Tottenham Lane (A), Crouch Hill (A), Stroud Green Rd (A), Seven Sisters Road (A), Tottenham High Road (A), Bruce Grove (A), Lordship Lane (A), Westbury Avenue (A), Turnpike Lane (A) . . . . etc etc.  Enjoy your gyratory, you pesky polluters.

Now do I need to get out my First Picture Dictionary to illustrate "L FOR LADDER" again?

April fool!!! (please ....)

Making Wightman Road one-way would speed up the traffic, wouldn't it?
This would necessitate the building of a lot more speed bumps to slow the traffic down again.

Emergency meeting called by Shef Mehmet who's up in arms about this; tonight at Cheree Hair, 455 Green Lanes. Free short, back & sides, dip dye or nail extensions if you turn up! And everyone gets an Apricot Fool (yummy!);

Apricot fools with coconut macaroons

xx

Oh FPR, got you again!! You didn't read the bottom of my post did you ... you naughty boy.

Now I thought you were a man that did his research. The Comedy Guild has updated their advice a number of years ago to deal with different time zones. They want to 'encourage participation by online users from all over the world' ... 'in particular the fine tradition of April Fools ... will recognize contributions from the time contributed (rather than received) as fair and inclusive'

Hats off to them I say. Until next year Mr Ranger.
