Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

if you live in Harringay and would like to try and get the area de-cluttered from all the satellite dishes and estate agents boards, please sign the petition. Also please ask your friends, share it on Facebook etc

This week we have approached the local councillors with the petition and they have promised to try and raise it at the council. Thankfully they were all very much in agreement. Obviously the more signatures we have the more they will listen.

A thought occurred to me the other day that you could have improved the entire look of green lanes without spending a penny by getting the dishes moved to the back of properties and have the boards taken down. Apparently Islington created a by-law to do just that.

Please note, we do not want the area to become as gentrified as Islington! We just want our area to look a bit nicer without having to spend millions of pounds!

Anyway, thank you for reading and hope you can sign our petition.

What about instead of taking money from estate agents all those people giving estate agents many thousands of pounds? You know, for personal gain buying and selling your houses. Surely that must be worse compared to taking money from them for our schools and community events?

I wouldn't know. I have never brought a house from an estate agent. But are you suggesting people don't buy houses? I'm a bit confused?

I ran a thread on here a few years back, protesting about Estate Agents' boards advertising school fairs ( and themselves ). The schools and Parents Associations seemed to think it was OK to prostitute the neighbourhood as long as the money was right.

Well done on the Hurtle by the way but when are you going to finish the job by taking down the signs indicating the routes ?

I think Hane have stipulated they stay up for 3 months. :)

Estate agents provide schools with the opportunity to raise;

If those who own a property portfolio would like to replace that with their own kind contributions to the coffers then please do!

Matt are you suggesting I have a property portfolio? And are you assuming estate agents don't?

They're nearly all down now John. Tempted to leave those last few around your neck of the woods for bit longer now though...

In recognition of your sterling work ant, I have started to take them down from the Greek church northwards :-). Do you want them back for next year's event ?

Thanks Billy

I will try and get in touch with them

Richard.

It's not an estate agent though, from what I can gather it's the owner advertising his own HMO business - which is, or includes, the property to which it is attached. So it's not strictly a 'to let' or 'let by' sign.

Take a pix. Send letter to lovely Planning department at HarinEy council....
