Two interlinked questions for posters here:
Firstly, where would people suggest for a traditional Sunday roast. The Salisbury and Garden Ladder are the obvious but I've not eaten at either for a good while, how are they nowadays? Any other local suggestions.
Secondly, any suggestions for lunch that's a bit different from the normal around Green Lanes. I'm thinking not turkish, sunday roast or my usual haunt of Cafe Lemon.
Cheers

For a Sunday lunch, the Great Northern Railway Tavern in Hornsey is excellent and value for money. They also do a "super roast" for approx. £15 which includes all three meats (they usually have three on) and extra yorkshire, spuds and veg!
Another vote for the GNRT roast, or a bit further away The Wrestlers in Highgate.
Jam in a Jar? Blend?
The pub at the junction of Green Lanes and Brownswood Road, just south of the Castle climbing centre. Can't recall its name and Street View doesn't show it. You'll need it to book as it's v busy on Sundays.
The Brownswood ;)
Thanks for the 'correction' John, otherwise people might confuse it with the Brownswood Park Tavern, which used to stand on the same spot, indeed still does. I must get it on my twitterfeed and 'like' it on facebook for the rebranding to take on my microchip.
Garden Ladder used to be my choice but now they only do pies. Shame.
Me too - we left on this basis and decamped to the Salisbury last time! Had to dodge a few prams, but the do a very decent veggie roast.
For a good quality budget roast, Devonshire House in Crouch End is hard to beat. Its Wetherspoons but actually pretty pleasant(well it is Crouch End) They have a big back room which is roomy and ideal for chatting, reading, fiddling on laptops etc. The Sunday Roast costs just £7.09p and includes a choice of drink! Amazing value considering a pint of Guinness normally costs nearly £4.00! You can supersize the meal for an extra £1. The roast is pretty good and the choice is beef, pork or (good) nut roast. Busy until about 3 but serving all day. ps also quiet...no music
