Amazon Subscribe and Save- Rip Off???
I sometimes use the Amazon Subscribe and Save facility. On the face of it, a good idea as you get a 5% discount on your order for a regular order. Problem is you do not get the price you see at the moment you subscribe- you get what ever the price is at the time of delivery.
So, by way of example... I ordered a 4 box pack of Pukka 3 Ginger Tea Bags. I made the order on the 6th Feb 2014, the delivery is due 1st March 2014. At the time I made the order the price was £6.84 after the discount of 5%. I just checked (as I am wary and the delivery is due) and the price has shot up to £8.70 post discount- almost £2 difference and frankly not much less than my local Sainsburys.
I find this happens time and again, I buy something, the next time the price has shot up... Am I alone in feeling that there is a systematic process of ripping folks off here? In a financial deal this trick is called bait and switch.

Agree. I was tempted by this but didn't see any sure saving. Sometimes the item you want may have gone up and is then available elsewhere at a good price. I do use Amazon Prime though. As I buy quite a lot of bits and pieces its usually free postage and more often than not, next day delivery. Plus if you have a gripe, they add another month on...

Amazon don't pay tax, employ staff on zero hours contracts and are often no cheaper. For instance, I recently needed to buy a number of books which weren't mass market blockbusters and every single one was cheaper at the Muswell Hill Bookshop. You can call and order and they will ring to let you know when your books are in. Why on earth use Amazon when you can save money and support local shops?

If only that were true. The reality is that Amazon in General is a lot cheaper and yes mostly for bulk selling books.

Amazon may be cheaper for block busters, but compare prices before buying anything that isn't — a bookshop may be better.
