Harringay Green Lanes bridge - refurbishment
Over at this discussion about the Harringay Green Lanes bridge lots of comment about its condition and its use for advertising, particularly as the bridge serves as a gateway to our area. Also at this discussionback in 2009.
One topic mentioned was re-decoration of the bridge. It was noted how good the Seven Sisters bridge looked after its refurbishment;
Compare this to Harringay bridge;
I sent off an enquiry to Network Rail. I'm posting their reply here so we have it on record;
Our structures department have responded that the paint system is not in bad condition, and that the bridge is projected to be refurbished around 2018. This will cost 160k.

I'm confused and I've clearly missed something. I thought the bridge was going to have something fancy like a light installation on it , what happened ? Plans looked great.

I really like the simple approach taken on the Camden Road and Caledonian Road bridges. The Green Lanes bridge is a vital element of the regeneration works currently being carried out but the problem is that working with Network Rail who own it is incredibly frustrating. You can rest assured that your councillors, residents and traders are all working all hard to get this resolved and hopefully we will have a bridge to be proud of.

Back in 2009, Nigel Lupton mocked up what Harringay Bridge would look like with Caledonian Road style clothes on. There are many other related posts on this topic now linked via the tag under Matt's original post.

I think this could be brought fwd if the funding is found. Network rail obviously have a huge network to maintain and must stick to their assessments and funding plans which are put in place way ahead, but with funding coming from elsewhere for Harringay Bridge the maintenance can surely jump the queue. So back to the powers that be.
