Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thanks to the generous contribution of one site member, we have now procured a wiki for the site.

So, first question, what's a wiki? My attempt at an answer on this (though please feel free to improve on this) is that it's an updatable sustainable repository for organising and publishing information. The critical difference being that anyone can start an article and anyone can edit an article. Think Wikipedia - a web-based encyclopedia bilt and contributed to soley by the millions of large and small contributions from around the globe.

Now, I must assure you that the ambitions for HoL's wiki are not global. So, second question, what is it for? Well Iguess, and again feel free to comment on this, it's for whatever site members want it to be for. My personal objective in adding the wiki was that a great deal of useful information is being added to the site and I want to make it as accessible as possible. Is the wiki the best way? Who knows. Let's give it a whirl.

So, in terms of focus of content there are no rules. But there are protocols around contribution. When you click through to the main page, you'll see a set of protocols as well as tips and links for using the wiki. (The title page is locked - for obvious reasons. All other pages are free to edit. Feel free to make suggestions on the main page if you like.)

I've set up a group for disucssion/questions/sharing on the wiki.

Feel free to add as much or as little as you like, or just be a reader. It's up to you. Don't feel that you have to add a complete article or carry out a comprehensive edit to an existing one. You can just start one off with a few thoughts if you like, change a sentence, correct a typo - whatever you want.

Theere is a barrier to entry in that you need to spend a little time familiraising yourself how to use the wiki. But it's not that difficult and feel free to post questions in the wiki group if you come up against somethig that's not clear.

Hope you enjoy/find it useful, whether you're adding or reading.

Oh yes, and to find it, there's a new tab up top.

Its easy! If I can do it, anyone can. You not telling me a middle aged housewife who left school before computers were even invented (well only boys in specs used them, guess they are all pretty wealthly now) can master this and you can't! Just RTFM first!
If you've got a bit of local knowledge about anything, lets hear it!
