Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Change of use from steel yard (at the Railway Approach on Hampden Rd) to residential and construction of a new building to create 80 new private and affordable apartments and two commercial units.

More details here.

Comments accepted until June.

It will be a very busy part of Harringay what with the railway yard, the mosque and this proposed 80 apartment development.

Seems like they want to put in a new application and seeking feedback from residents ahead of time.  I shall try to go.

As far as I can tell from observations of new developments in Tottenham & Harringay the housing/building/construction investors are literally taking the micky out of present residents and new ones, as they know that a lot of residents have not the time or inclination to keep track of their shenanigans and what I see is a lot of new development that literally is on the pavements, every available centimetre right up to the pavement is taken by these new builds, no consideration for gardens, parking or even space for wheelchairs, let alone pushchairs and bicycles. The policy is to make as much as possible, with hiked up rents but more importantly this is at a price of quality of life for those present & new residents, this has to be addressed, as it is already too late for those that have already been built, even the balconies are made to minimal specification, this is wrong, to have people live in minimal living space and literally on top of each other, like rabbit hutches, my concern is for the well being and mental health of people whom are having to live in these high capacity buildings, the knock on effect to present residents. Please see below, this is required in Harringay also but would suggest going alone to this meeting to get to grips as to housing development plans and how present residents can voice their concerns for the future of lives worth living.

Something similar to this is required.
