How much does an ASBO cost?
Remember the nine young men moved on from Duckett's Common with the full force of the law? That didn't hurt too much did it? Possibly two of them ended up mugging people in the passage but other than that, all good. Right?
How much do we think that ASBO cost?

To keep nine young men, two of them minors, away from a park. This was not asked for by a resident, this was done by someone in the council and approved by Nick Walkley.

We could also implant microchips inside offenders ears and Simon Cowell could instruct offenders when they shoplift, not to steal any items from his artists...
OR
We could remove offenders eyes, replacing them with CCTV cameras and have them walk around parks filming Anti Social Behaviour and then zapping all of the kids into a secret tunnel which leads them to the same place other offenders who call Harringay, Haringay or Harringey are sent... Hugh's dungeon! Muahhhahahahahah!

Reading Seema's comments, FPR, is there nothing which makes you pause and think she may have a point or two? Isn't "be careful what you wish for" wise advice? Or perhaps you think the powers-that-be can always be trusted to target only the very small minority of authenticated bad guys?

This is my only issue with what FPR suggests. The technology would be abused by the government. That means it absolutely cannot be used. So... next solution. Wasn't EMA working?

Well two things, one is that this affects us at a distance, by making our politics serve the establishment more as you have pointed out and the other thing is that you fingered "The Labour Party". Not very cool IMHO.

I think it's appropriate to look at how politician's behave when they're not in government. It was the government that did that, Labour Party members were probably, as with much that the government did from 2003, quite horrified.
