More than 7% of Mortality in Haringey Due to Particulate Air Pollution
Data from the Government's new Public Health Outcomes Framework Data Tool reveals all sorts of joyful information about where we live.
The data presented in the table above show that as a borough we do worse than more than half of London in deaths caused by air pollution. (There's not too much to get worried about here though, since with Haringey's current death rate this means we're only 12.5 deaths a year worse off than healthy Bromley).
Other statistics to cheer you up include Haringey's "Healthy Life Expectancy". This one should probably concern us all a little more and it's almost certain that concealed with this data are marked differences between the East and West of the borough.
The data shows that Haringey has the fourth worst healthy life expectancy of any London Borough.
Bottom of the league is Tower Hamlets with 55 years. There's a world of difference between that at the 70+ years given to the inhabitants of chart topping Richmond.

It boggles the mind to think what could be done with Tottenham if they were allowed to declare independence from Highgate, Crouch End and Muswell Hill. The original purpose in combining them of taking wealth from the west and spending it in the east doesn't work because of the council tax cap. If we were separate from the other side of the tracks there would be some startling statistics and some swift central government (or even EU) intervention.
