Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is it just me or are emergency vehicles getting out of control on Green Lanes? Hardly five minutes go by without a police car or an ambulance's siren blaring out as it speeds by, day or night. Sunday night alone, I was woken up to four times by ambulances. Now, I have been to other large cities in the world, and somehow they get by without a constant flux of painfully loud vehicles. Why is that so in London, and especially Harringay? Can we somehow diminish this nasty bout of noise pollution which does not make our area very attractive? I realise they have a job to do, but there can't be that many emergencies...

I got earplugs the first night I moved in. Slept well since

We live in London and Green Lanes is a really long road that connects a lot of places, so a lot of emergency vehicles use it. I don't think it's that unreasonable for there to be noise from sirens, as annoying as it can sometimes be.

The ambulance base round the corner in St Ann's Road will be a main siren source, of course: and it will remain there if/when the hospital site redevelopment goes ahead. Bad luck, Chris - Theresa's tipped you the (forty) wink(s).....

On the plus side when you do need an ambulance they arrive astoundingly quickly

Wasn't it like that when you moved in?

I don't think it's worsened since we moved in a good few years back!
