Androulla. Did you ever open this thing up? What did you find? Any photos?

Hi Justin - this discussion brings back memories !! No i have done nothing its still there. Hubby was worried about the mess and the hole in the ground that would be left. I would still be up for digging it all up - though I think the top has been concreted over ..... do you have a special interest in these types of things ?

Not in any professional capacity, just intersted in them as a piece of local history. Also, I was reminded of it when I was speaking with my daughters Year 3 teacher a day or so ago as the kids are going to do a project and some work around WWII. It made me think of your post in Jan!

If you ever do open it up let us know, I think your back garden would be crowded!

... its just like a mini bog at the moment - nothing to see but there was a LOT of interest - might think about an excavation in the summer ... unless someone wants to do it for me and fill in the hole afterwards ... although I was fantasising about turning it into a hot tub or a big pond ...

Let us know what the plans for the summer are... I am sure you can find some builders who would love to dump their rubble in there!

Hello there do you still have your anderson shelter in your garden
Yes . Done nothing to it yet
... will do. I have enough rubble of my own - don't need any more of the stuff!
Hello androulla do you still have your anderson shelter as ive been trying to obtain one for years. Im abig collector off ww2 memorabilia and I would love one in the middle of my vegetable garden just next to my little ww2 museum . Please get back to me all the best justin manning

..... not sure if its going to be any use to you as the top above ground bit has been hacked off? (many years ago it looks like). Id only be too happy for someone to try and remove it !! Not sure how private messaging works but you are welcome to message me !

.... and I'd love the change to open it up and see if there are any goodies inside - I was hoping before it was closed someone might have left gas masks or other things of the time in it - perhaps as a sort of time capsule.... but its going to take some convinving of the other half to go through the mess of remving it ... might not even be possible ??? who knows ...  your garden sounds wonderful !

It would be nice to have an anderson to keep all the garden tools in so to free up the kids bike shed. And it would look the part next to my dig for victory sign
